Golden Isles Coastal Living
This home is a modern take on Southern architecture, balancing warmth, serenity, and a touch of whimsy. Thoughtfully designed to embrace its coastal Georgia setting, the house is sited around a magnificent live oak, with interiors that harmonize seamlessly with the landscape. The ever-changing marsh, breathtaking sunsets, and twisting oak branches are reflected in the home’s colors, mater.
Built for the Climate
Positioned to capture prevailing breezes and frame stunning sunset views, the house takes full advantage of its surroundings. Exposed rafters extend into deep roof overhangs, shielding the interiors from harsh sun and severe weather while maintaining a sense of openness. Raised above the floodplain and engineered for hurricane wind loads, the structure is designed with resilience in mind, ensuring longevity in a coastal climate. The home is also highly energy-efficient, with a tightly sealed envelope and a state-of-the-art HVAC system optimized for Georgia’s hot, humid conditions.
Outdoor Oasis
Outdoor living is a key element of the design, fostering a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The garden wall undulates playfully, while a vine-covered fence provides privacy with a hint of whimsy. Shade sails stretch over the pool and deck, offering cool respite from the sun, and a portion of the outdoor living area can be enclosed with motorized retractable screens when needed.
From the client…
“Jane, Michael and team really listened to our somewhat inarticulate goals. We wanted where modern meets southern, as well as warmth, serenity and a dash of whimsy. Our home does all of that and more.”
