On the Boards: Fernandina Beach, FL

This house in Ferdandina Beach, Florida is certainly unique and a great example of an ugly house on a great site. The view from the house is incredible, there are nice old trees on the lot and it’s very private. The exterior of the house is okay but the interior is something else. It features a brick “grain silo” in the middle of the house which creates weird shaped rooms and lots of ugly tile. By demolishing the grain silo, the owners will gain a ton of useable space. We also plan on improving the outdoor living space, adding a firepit, outdoor dining, outdoor shower. There is a pool shown on the site plan, which may not be included in this phase of the project, but it sure would be a magnificently relaxing place for a swim.

Here are some photos of the existing house and property. The renovation will result in a house that maximizes the views over the marsh, that is open and airy, with updated finishes and fixtures.
