Michael’s true passion centers on creating sustainable architecture that connects people to their natural environment. HIs ability to site a house perfectly in a landscape—maximizing every view, every breeze—might be his superpower.  An important mentor in his early days was the great landscape architect, Robert Marvin, who informed his strong sense of place and deep connection to the rhythms of nature.

His award-winning custom residences provide lasting value and truly celebrate our region’s architectural and natural heritage. Building and restoring existing architecture to create new spaces that enhance our day to day lives is his goal. Knowledge of historical and vernacular architecture, coupled with a keen ability to combine timeless architectural truths with current advancements, ensures Michael’s designs always exceed client expectations.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University. Jane & Michael established Frederick + Frederick Architects in 1989 after falling completely in love with the Lowcountry.
